Tackling antisocial behaviour.

Anti-social behaviour is high on everyone's agenda and a key area that Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team target.  We do this by getting out on patrol in vehicles and on foot.  We target the areas where we know these issues are occurring.  This is where reports from the public assist in the areas to look at.  Youth antisocial behaviour in relation to alcohol and off road motorbikes are regular issues.

On Tuesday evening targeting an area of Killingworth that we know has issues we seized a quantity of alcohol from underage youths. The youths were stopped whilst officers from the neighbourhood team were on foot patrol.  All of the alcohol seized will be disposed of.

Tonight officers responding to a call of anti social behaviour by an off road motorbike responded on foot to the area.  They observed a youth riding an off road motorbike with no safety equipment.  The rider was stopped nearby and the vehicle seized.

All persons that have been identified in relation to both incidents will be dealt with through appropriate channels and have safeguarding referral's submitted.

We encourage members of the public to report anti social behaviour in the community to help us to make sure our patrols are in the right areas at the right time.  Any emergencies should be reported via 999 but general anti social behaviour can be reported via 101 or using online forms available on the website via https://beta.northumbria.police.uk.
