Vehicle crimes

"Over the past few weeks, we have had a rise in reports of vehicle interference in Cramlington and the surrounding areas, we have made arrests, but are continuing our investigation.

We have teamed up with our partners on the community safety team, as well as patrols with local councillors, we will be conducting high visibility reassurance patrols in the local area, engaging with local residents and checking that cars are locked.

This evening we were out with Cllr Wayne Daley who did a joint patrol with us around his ward of Northburn, we were pleased that residents have taken prevention advice well and zero vehicles were found to be unlocked.

Cllr Daley may have a further update on his Facebook page Councillor Wayne Daley & Councillor Helen Morris. Northburn Area. | Facebook

We will report back if other wards fare as well, this is not a competition, but we don’t want anyone to fall victim or be financially impacted, especially so close to Christmas.

Over this Christmas period, I would ask residents to remain vigilant; ensuring that their car doors, house doors and garages are all locked and secure, and to report any incidents to us". - PC Devlin
