Police have been made aware that a group of youths have been lighting fires in the woodland next to the Water Treatment Facility, Percy Drive, Amble.

Within the last three months six fires have been set deliberately resulting in Northumberland Fire and Rescue attending the scene to extinguish the fires.

The actions of these youths is totally irresponsible and we would urge parents to speak to their children with regards to the dangers of setting fires and time spent by the Fire Service attending these incidents when they may be required elsewhere.

Bonfire Night is approaching fast and this is historically the busiest night for the Fire Service.

Please speak to your children and make them aware of the consequences of their actions.
