A man has been charged and remanded in police custody after a series of till snatches in Morpeth.

Morpeth Neighbourhood officers made an arrest in September in relation to the incidents. Following a thorough investigation, further offences were discovered.

As a result of this new evidence, the suspect was further arrested on the 24th October. Collaborative work between Neighbourhood and Response Officers from The Sanderson Arcade Hub has linked the suspect to a total eight offences.

Officers responding to the initial incidents utilised Morpeth's Shop Watch Radio System to assist in the search for the suspect. When located, rapid review of the town's CCTV system enabled officers to link the offender to several premises. 

The CCTV system was then used heavily in the wider investigation, allowing officers to track the male and link him to identifiable property, recovered in subsequent searches.
