Uplift Of Nuisance Bike, Morpeth

Whilst out on patrol, officers from the Morpeth Neigbourhood Team have seen two males riding on an off-road type bike in the Castle Walk area of Morpeth on the 05/10/24.  At the time the Passenger was not wearing a helmet and on seeing the police they have made off on the bike at speed and with little concern for the public or other road users

The officers have searched for the bike and a vigilant members of the public has approached them,  informing them current location of the bike.  As a result of this information the officers have gone to the High Church area and have again seen these two males who have dumped the bike and ran off.

The bike has now been seized/uplifted and the males involved having been identified are now looking at going to court for driving offences and causing a public nuisance.

It should be stressed that the use of these types of bikes and the way they are often ridden is a danger to other road users, the public and the riders themselves.

These bikes are also often un-road worthy and should not be used.

If found they will be uplifted, the owner reported for any offences and we will seek destruction of the bike to prevent their further use

Should you have any information in relation to these types of bikes or their use in the areas please contact us via 101 or online via the Northumbria Polices Website.
