Arrests relating to theft from shops on 26/09/24

On the 26/09/24 reports were received of a male who had taken cash from the tills at Iceland and Home Bargains in Morpeth.

As a result of this report police have utilised Morpeth’ s town CCTV system to find footage of the male and his direction of travel along with his description.

Neighbourhood and Response officers were deployed from the local hub whilst evidence continued to be gathered to search for this male. whilst this was taking place further information was received of a potential female’s involvement.

As a result of this information and only a short time after the reports were made a male and female were traced to Morpeth Bus Station, and both were arrested for the offences.

They have subsequently been bailed with conditions for further enquiries.

This again demonstrated the positive effect that that the Neighbourhood and Response Hub is having in the area. Officers are being deployed quickly with up to date information that continue to produce positive results.
