Police will continue to provide a highly visible presence around Bedlington Station this evening (Friday 20th Sept) to prevent anti-social behaviour (ASB) from taking place. Last night, we issued Dispersal Notices to several youths following a report from a member of the public of groups of youths congregating. We have taken details of those present and will follow up with respective parents and/or carers. The Dispersal Order remains in place overnight tonight and into Saturday, and will be continually reviewed thereafter.
As a reminder, the Dispersal Order covers the following part of Bedlington Station: A Dispersal Order enables Police Officers and PCSOs to direct a person who has engaged in, or is likely to engage in, ASB to leave a specified area and not to return for a set period of time. A Dispersal Notice can be issued to anyone over 10 years of age. It is a criminal offence to remain in the area of exclusion or return to the area once a notice has been issued. Anyone found to be contravening a Dispersal Notice issued upon them may be liable to be arrested.
Thank you.
