Gateshead Central and East Neighbourhood Policing team have today executed a warrant after concerns from residents about an address in Birtley.

These discoveries are only possible because members of the community passed on their concerns and that allowed us to carry out a range of enquiries as to the suspected criminality associated with this address.

Now, as a result, we have dismantled this cannabis farm that had multiple plants at various stages of growth.

Quite often, these types of operations have links to serious and organised crime – so it’s imperative that we find these drugs, destroy them and ensure they do not end up in the hands of the most vulnerable people in our society.

The electric had also been by-passed at the addresses which is incredibly dangerous and potentially fatal for those who live in neighbouring properties.
