Motorcycle Thefts

Good Morning,

Over the past couple of weeks there has been a significant rise in the theft/attempted theft of motorcycles and scooters within South East Northumberland.

The offenders appear to be targeting properties in the early hours between midnight and 5am and appear to have prior knowledge that a bike is being stored in that location.

If you witness any suspicious activity around addresses where you know motorcycles are being stored then please report this to the police.

Any owners of these vehicles please be extra vigilant around the security of your property.

-Be careful around conversations and social media posts. The offenders could be using this information to identify where bikes are located prior to stealing them.

-Ensure you keep your bike hidden and securely locked away.

-Look at potentially installing alarms and CCTV

-Try not to have the bike with a full tank of fuel, try and keep this as low as possible.

-Extra measures you could put in place include forensically marking your bike or place a hidden tracking device that you can remotely monitor.

Many Thanks,
